NSSGA Member Testifies on IIJA Implementation at House T&I Hearing

ALEXANDRIA, VA National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) member Dwayne Boyd, president of the Midsouth Region, CRH Americas served as a witness during the “Reviewing the Implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act” hearing, which was held by the House Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Highways and Transit Subcommittee. Boyd started out by thanking the Committee for their work in passing IIJA and emphasized the important advances that IIJA implementation provides for the aggregates industry. 

Letter to House Leadership Supporting H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act

On behalf of the 400 National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) members, I am writing to share our strong support for H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. NSSGA urges each member of Congress to support this needed act, which will unleash the potential of American energy and roll back permitting challenges, therefore allowing the aggregates industry to continue supplying essential building materials to American communities. H.R. 1 takes significant strides to fix a broken permitting reform process that currently makes the task of sourcing aggregates severely difficult.

Charlie Luck Receives 2023 Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award

LAS VEGAS – At the start of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Annual Membership and Board Meeting, the 2023 Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award was presented to Charlie Luck of Luck Companies.  

 

“Throughout the industry, Charlie Luck is widely known for encouraging the advancement and bettering the aggregates industry,” said NSSGA President & CEO Michael Johnson. “His industry expertise and drive to help individuals succeed showcases he is an outstanding representation of the Barry K. Wendt Memorial Commitment Award.” 

 

Seth Hankowski Accepts the 2023 Board Chair Gavel

LAS VEGAS – During the Annual Membership Meeting at the 2023 Annual Convention, the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) outgoing Chair Karen Hubacz, Bond Construction handed off the gavel to fellow Bay Stater, Seth Hankowski, All States Materials Group. 2023 Joint Annual Convention Comes Roaring Back to Vegas

LAS VEGAS – More than 1,100 industry leaders gather this week in Las Vegas for the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) 2023 Joint Annual Convention. This event occurs every three years and includes collaborative programming with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the Portland Cement Association (PCA).  The 2023 meeting theme of Building the Future Together, focuses on the unity among the industries and the shared policy issues.   

 

Manufacturing & Services Division Chair Passes the Gavel: 2022 M&S Chair Josh Swank Presents Gavel to Charlie Johnson During M&S Dinner

LAS VEGAS – On the first evening of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) 2023 Annual Convention, the Manufacturing & Services (M&S) Division announced their 2023 Executive Committee Chair at their annual dinner. Outgoing Chair Josh Swank of Philippi-Hagenbuch handed off the gavel to Charlie Johnson of DSC Dredge LLC. The M&S division also appointed Mark Krause of McLanahan Corporation, as the M&S Vice Chair.  

 

Support for S.J. Res. 7, the CRA Resolution of Disapproval of the Biden Administration’s New WOTUS Rule

On behalf of the 400 members of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), I am writing to share our strong support for S.J. Res. 7, the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval on the Biden administration’s new Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule. NSSGA urges every member of Congress to support this measure, which will bring immediate and needed permitting certainty, as the aggregates industry works to deliver materials to build our infrastructure.

Comments to GSA on FAR Implementation of EO 14030, Climate-Related Financial Risk

The National Sand, Stone and Gravel Association (“NSSGA”) appreciates the opportunity to provide this comment letter on the proposed revision of the Federal Acquisition Rules (FAR) to implement section 5(b)(i) of Executive Order (E.O.) 14030, Climate-Related Financial Risk, to require major Federal suppliers to publicly disclose greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate-related financial risk and to set science-based reduction targets. NSSGA represents aggregates producers, as well as those who manufacture equipment and provide services that support the construction industry.

Comments to Task Force Members on GSA's Lower Embodied Carbon Standard

On January 25th, 2023, the General Service Administration (GSA) released for comment the GSA developed minimum requirement standards for Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funded purchases of materials and products with substantially lower embodied carbon based on, and in accordance with, EPA’s Determination under Section 60503 of IRA. The National Sand, Stone and Gravel Association (NSSGA) appreciate the opportunity to comment on the GSA developed standards to promote the procurement of materials and products available today with the comparatively lower embodied carbon.
