NSSGA’s Safety Award Recipients Announced

WASHINGTON – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) this morning announced the winners of the Safety Excellence Awards, the Louis Griesemer Sterling Safety Awards and the James M. Christie Safety and Health Professional of the Year Award. 

 

2022 Environmental Excellence Award Winners Announced

WASHINGTON – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) today announced the recipients of the Environmental Excellence Awards and the 2022 winner of the Environmental Leadership Award. The Excellence Awards recognize operations that actively demonstrate a commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems. NSSGA announced there were a total of 12 Gold winners, 10 Silver winners and 88 Bronze winners.    

 

NSSGA Announces Community Relations Excellence Award Winners

WASHINGTON – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) today announced the recipients of the NSSGA Community Relations Excellence Awards. The Community Relations Excellence Awards recognize producers’ achievements through the involvement in their community to enhance the public’s perception of their business, their facility and our industry. This year, NSSGA recognized a total of eight Gold, eight Silver and 44 Bronze winners.    

 

MSHA Assistant Secretary Tours First Aggregates Quarry

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) organized a day-long tour for the Mine Safety & Health Administration’s (MSHA) Assistant Secretary, Chris Williamson along with seven other Department of Labor/MSHA staff at Luck Stone’s Bull Run facility in Virginia. This was the Assistant Secretary’s first tour of an aggregates quarry and his first mine tour since starting at MSHA. This was followed by the first NSSGA-MSHA Alliance working meeting.

 

NSSGA Applauds Senate WRDA Passage

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs Michele Stanley issued the following statement after the Senate passed the 2022 Water Resources Development Act. NSSGA Board Chair Karen Hubacz Discusses Inflation at House Transportation & Infrastructure Roundtable

ALEXANDRIA, VA – NSSGA Board Chair and President of Bond Construction Corp. Karen Hubacz spoke to the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee today about the impact of inflation on the aggregates industry. The House T&I Committee Republicans this morning held a roundtable discussion on the “Inflation Crisis Impacts on Infrastructure,” hosted by Ranking Member Sam Graves (MO). 

 

NSSGA Opposes Gas Tax Holiday

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) President and CEO Michael Johnson issued the following statement after President Biden asked Congress to approve legislation to suspend collection of the federal gas tax for three months.

NSSGA Supports House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee’s 2022 WRDA

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs Michele Stanley issued the following statement in support of the House reauthorization of the 2022 Water Resources Development Act. The Committee announced a markup of the bill will be held on Wednesday, May 18.

 

NSSGA Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Young Leaders

SAN DIEGO, CA – After two years, the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association gathered the current Young Leaders and alumni to meet in San Diego to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. The meeting, held from May 1-4, attracted a record attendance of more than 325 participants, who heard from industry leaders; participated in community service activities; and welcomed their new Committee leadership.
