This webinar provided the latest developments on Environmental Justice (EJ) nationally, including the expansion of EJ efforts federally and in states throughout the country, along with practical tips and considerations to effectively manage the current regulatory landscape. The speakers were Brian Montag, Gail Conenello and Cliff Rothenstein, all with K&L.

From Lab to Field: Enhancing ASR Test Reliability Through Research and Partnership

This webinar features a focused discussion on advancing Alkali-Silica Reactivity (ASR) testing methods to improve reliability, correlation and industry relevance. Dr. Leandro Sanchez, Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa and Chair of ACI Committee 221 on Aggregates, shared insights into the precision and accuracy of current ASR test methods and their correlation with long-term field exposure blocks.

NSSGA's GARA team held the first Policy Briefing Webinar of 2024. After the winter holidays, things are heating up on Capitol Hill. Government funding measures and regulatory changes like the Air Emissions Reporting Rule and the Powered Haulage Rule are at play. Join NSSGA’s GARA team for a Policy Briefing Webinar. Capitol Hill is working on several pieces of legislation with significant domestic and international implications. Additionally, NSSGA is working to share our positions on MSHA's silica rule and powered haulage rule. Like all policy briefings, the GARA team provided updates on key regulatory and legislative activity and answered questions from participants.

MSHA Silica Rule Overview

This panel will review the new MSHA silica rule published on April 18. The new Part 60 in the rule goes into effect in two years. Presenters John Ulizio and Libby Pritchard will go over the new rule; the requirements the rule imposes on Metal/Non-Metal; and what mine operators can do to prepare. The panel will also talk about how NSSGA is providing compliance assistance to member companies, including future materials, webinars and workshops.

On Thursday, June 27, NSSGA's GARA team hosted a Policy Briefing Webinar. Hear about the NDAA reauthorization and its implications for our industry; discover the latest updates on the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and how they impact water resources and infrastructure; understand the status and future prospects of the Highway Transportation Fund (HTF); and hear the latest developments on the silica rule. 

MSHA Resources: An Overview of the Educational Field and Small Mine Services and Technical Support Services

MSHA’s Educational Field and Small Mine Services (EFSMS) program specializes in educational outreach to industry stakeholders. The Directorate of Technical Support and its Approval and Certification Center and Technology Center provides engineering, scientific, and technical expertise to other MSHA program areas. In this webinar, MSHA staff will provide an overview of the EFSMS and Technical Support program area and the services they provide to the mining community. There also will be a question-and-answer segment.
