This webinar features a focused discussion on advancing Alkali-Silica Reactivity (ASR) testing methods to improve reliability, correlation and industry relevance. Dr. Leandro Sanchez, Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa and Chair of ACI Committee 221 on Aggregates, shared insights into the precision and accuracy of current ASR test methods and their correlation with long-term field exposure blocks.

This panel will review the new MSHA silica rule published on April 18. The new Part 60 in the rule goes into effect in two years. Presenters John Ulizio and Libby Pritchard will go over the new rule; the requirements the rule imposes on Metal/Non-Metal; and what mine operators can do to prepare. MSHA’s Educational Field and Small Mine Services (EFSMS) program specializes in educational outreach to industry stakeholders. The Directorate of Technical Support and its Approval and Certification Center and Technology Center provides engineering, scientific, and technical expertise to other MSHA program areas. In this webinar, MSHA staff will provide an overview of the EFSMS and Technical Support program area and the services they provide to the mining community. There also will be a question-and-answer segment.
