NSSGA Applauds Senate for Passage of Water Infrastructure Bill

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Vice President, Government & Regulatory Affairs Michele Stanley, issued the following statement after the legislation, S. 914, passed the Senate. The Environment and Public Works Committee had unanimously passed the bill and published a press release which references NSSGA’s initial statement of support.

“NSSGA welcomes Senate passage of S. 914, the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act of 2021. This legislation would prioritize and update countless drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the country via $35 billion in federal investments, improving the daily lives of millions of Americas.

“We appreciate the leadership of Environment & Public Works Committee (EPW) Chairman Carper and Ranking Member Capito, who worked with colleagues as well as industry stakeholders, to draft and report this bill to the floor unanimously. We hope the bi-partisanship and cooperation achieved continues as the committee begins work on drafting and passing a robust highway reauthorization package to address our crumbling surface transportation network.”

NSSGA is the leading advocate for the aggregates industry. Its members – stone, sand and gravel producers and the equipment manufacturers and service providers who support them – produce the essential raw materials found in homes, buildings, roads, bridges and public works projects, NSSGA represents more than 90 percent of the crushed stone and 70 percent of the sand and gravel produced annually in the United States.
