Aggregates operations from around the country are gathering in Washington this week to advocate for the industry and to educate Congress on the many ways that Rocks Build America’s Future.
Welcome to Washington: Key Day 1 Events
Day 1 of the Legislative & Policy Forum is full of special events designed to engage and prepare attendees to make an impact on Capitol Hill.
The opening General Session at 7:30 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 18, will feature speakers from NSSGA and political institutions. David Wasserman, U.S. House editor and senior election analyst for the Cook Political Report, and Lucinda Guinn, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, will provide updates and offer insights into today’s political climate and the 2020 presidential election.
Those updates will continue with Kevin McLaughlin, executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, who will speak during the Lunch with a Lawmaker session at 11:30 a.m.
During that program, Legislative & Policy Forum attendees will focus on safety – the top priority for NSSGA member companies. Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health David Zatezalo and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., are expected to apprise attendees on policies, regulations and recognize operations for their commitment to safety.

Recognizing Individuals and Operations
Good operations are good neighbors that support their communities, care for the environment and ensure that workers go home safely at thee end of each shift. NSSGA will proudly present the 2019 Awards of Community Relations, Environmental and Safety Excellence to dozens of operations that have demonstrated a clear commitment to these ideals.
