The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 134 different models of Kidde fire extinguishers made between January 1973 and August 2017. Plastic handle fire extinguishers and push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers are being recalled. Find details and the models being recalled at this link.
MSHA also issued an Equipment Hazard Alert on the Kidde fire extinguishers. The fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency, according to the CPSC recall. The nozzle can also detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.
Aggregates operations are encouraged to check their fire extinguishers and contact Kidde toll-free at 855-271-0773 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Eastern time, on Saturday and Sunday.
