Luck Companies hosted the staff of members of Congress for a tour of the Bull Run Quarry in Centreville, Va. It was the first time visiting a quarry for these staff members, who work for members of Congress that serve on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
A short briefing showed the staff how the operation engages their community and goes above and beyond what’s required for environmental regulations. Then they were able to see a full production cycle – starting with a blast and then seeing haul trucks move the material to the crushers. The tour also included a trip down Interstate 66, a busy commuter artery for Washington, D.C., for a look at infrastructure projects that rely on the aggregates produced at Bull Run.
Quarry tours are particularly effective ways to build relationships with your members of Congress – who are likely in your congressional district this month during August recess. Join with many other NSSGA member companies by hosting lawmakers for a tour of your operation during the August recess. If you need help setting up a quarry tour, please contact NSSGA for help!
