Outstanding Operations to Receive Safety Awards

ALEXANDRIA, VA., Aug. 30, 2017 – The National Stone Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) today proudly announced the recipients of the 2017 Safety Excellence and Sterling Safety Awards.

“Aggregates operations across the country continue to demonstrate a remarkable commitment to safety by reducing the industry injury rate for 16 straight years, with a record low rate of just 1.95 injuries per 200,00 hours worked last year. We will recognize these operations during the upcoming Legislative & Policy Forum/Fall Board Meeting next month to highlight our industry’s focus on the health and safety of our workforce,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO.

NSSGA’s annual awards program recognizes aggregates operations throughout the United States for their extraordinary commitment to safety, their continuing performance of safe environmental practices and for their efforts and activities that continue to enhance the image of the industry.

Safety Excellence Gold Award Recipients

The Safety Excellence Awards were created in 1987 to promote safe working conditions and practices and to recognize, on an annual basis, individual operations with exemplary safety records among NSSGA member companies. The awards recognize individual operations that have gone the longest duration without a reportable injury in their size category, based on data provided by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
