At the start of the 116th Congress next year, the aggregates industry has an opportunity to build strong relationships with both new and returning members of Congress. In this episode of NSSGA’s podcast, Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO, highlights the importance of reaching out to new members as they begin their work in the new year.
Johnson emphasizes the importance of hosting new members of Congress at operations for a tour, since members of Congress will have varying degrees of familiarity with stone, sand and gravel producers. “Advocacy is going to be especially important in 2019 with over 100 new members of the House and 10 new members of the Senate,” he says. “We’ve got to prioritize getting new members of Congress into aggregates operations so they begin to build that relationship with us.”
