NSSGA Podcast: Big Work for Small Producers

Small companies are the backbone of the American economy, and it’s no different in the aggregates industry. In this episode of NSSGA’s podcast, John and Clay Albright, of Caldwell Stone Co., share their tips for managing a small, family-owned quarry in Danville, Ky. They also talk about getting generations of Albrights interested in the family business, and keeping the morale and skill sets high for their employees. “We talk to each other differently than other people might, but we trust each other,” says John.

The Albrights also highlight the importance of building relationships within the industry through membership in associations like NSSGA and the Kentucky Crushed Stone Association. “There’s lots of opportunities to interact with a variety of people who have a variety of experiences,” John says.
