Hilton Head, S.C., April 30, 2019 – Brian Mahavier, Vice President of Strategy and Development at U.S. Concrete, Inc., was presented with the 2019 Mark S. Walsh Award at the Young Leaders Annual Meeting in Hilton Head Island, S.C., today.
“It has been an incredible opportunity to be involved in this group and I am really honored to receive this award,” said Mahavier. “From the annual meeting, speakers, community service projects to the instant camaraderie you build with industry peers from all over the country, it’s been a pleasure to have been part of Young Leaders. I only regret that I did not get involved sooner.”
For over 10 years, Mahavier has been a core member of NSSGA’s Young Leaders. Serving as a member of the Young Leaders Steering Committee, then Vice Chair and ultimately Chairman, Mahavier has worked tirelessly to recruit many young aggregates professionals to participate in the group year after year.
“Brian’s professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to improving the Young Leaders initiative truly follows in the example set by Mark and all the others who have received this honor,” said Aaron Ozinga, chairman of the Young Leaders Steering Committee. “We are proud to recognize Brian for the dynamic, forward-thinking and strategic spirit he has brought to the program.”
Mark S. Walsh was comptroller of Rein, Shultz and Dahl, a National Stone Association (NSA) member, and an active member of the Young Leaders Steering Committee. During his two years of service, Walsh was an energetic and enthusiastic supporter of the mission, purpose and activities of the Young Leaders group. At 37 years old, Walsh passed away from leukemia in 1999. His sage advice, counsel and unique insights led to the founding of an award in his name and honor.
