Important Awards Updates for NSSGA Members

Barry K. Wendt Award Nominations Submission Deadline Approaching

Submit your nomination for the 2019 Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award by Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, for your outstanding peer, colleague, friend or mentor to be considered for the aggregates industry’s most prestigious award. The Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award is presented annually to an industry member who embodies the commitment to family, career and industry for which Barry K. Wendt was known. NSSGA’s Manufacturers and Services Division created this award in 1997 as a last memorial to Wendt, who tirelessly devoted his energy to advance the industry’s causes.

If you know of an individual in the industry who is deserving of personal recognition for exhibiting the dedication exemplified by Barry Wendt, please fill out the online form and nominate them for this award by Jan. 7. The award will be presented at the NSSGA Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo, Feb. 10-14 in Indianapolis.

Community Relations, Environmental and Safety Awards Presented at Legislative & Policy Forum

NSSGA will accept applications for the Awards of Excellence in community relations, safety and environmental categories in March 2019.

Applicants will have several weeks to apply for any of NSSGA’s awards under the new schedule, which is more time than in previous years for applications. Member companies will then be recognized for their remarkable efforts throughout 2018 during the Legislative & Policy Forum.

In 2016, NSSGA shifted the presentation of the Safety and Environmental Excellence Awards to the Legislative & Policy Forum. Adding the presentation of the Community Relations Excellence awards to the Fall meeting allow aggregates operations to talk about their remarkable achievements with their members of Congress, or to even have the awards presented by their elected officials.

Member companies can expect to see notices with further details on the awards application schedule and process in February 2019. For any other information, please visit
