Recently, NSSGA members Vulcan Materials Company and CRH Americas Materials joined U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao in Georgia at an event planned by the Georgia Transportation Alliance (GTA) to celebrate a $184 million grant that will go towards construction along Interstate 284.
“We were honored to have Secretary Chao at this event. It’s critical for aggregates operators to engage with lawmakers at every level of government,” said Jeff Wansley, executive director of the Georgia Construction Aggregate Association (GCAA).
With Congress’ annual August recess quickly approaching, now is the time to plan to bring representatives and officials to your operations for a tour. Meeting lawmakers in a quarry provides a unique opportunity to educate members of Congress about the aggregates industry. Members of Congress can see the good-paying jobs our industry offers and learn about how quarries produce the building blocks of the community and local infrastructure.
Tours also provide a way for quarry staff and managers to build a relationship with their local member of Congress and their staff.
Are you interested in bringing your member of Congress to your operation this summer? NSSGA can help! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 703-525-8788 to speak with someone who can help you organize a tour with your elected officials.
