ALEXANDRIA, VA., Aug. 31, 2018 – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) today proudly announced the recipients of the 2018 Safety Excellence and Sterling Safety Awards.
“Ensuring that each employee can go home safely at the end of each shift is the top priority for NSSGA member companies. As a result of that commitment, according to statistics, it now is safer to work in a quarry than in a retail store. We look forward to celebrating the outstanding safety achievements of these quarries and companies during NSSGA’s upcoming Legislative & Policy Forum in Washington, D.C.,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO.
NSSGA’s annual awards program recognizes aggregates operations throughout the United States for their extraordinary commitment to safety, their continuing performance of safe environmental practices and for their efforts and activities that continue to enhance the image of the industry. These operations and companies will be recognized during NSSGA’s Legislative & Policy Forum, Sept. 25-27, in Washington, D.C.
Safety Excellence Gold Award Recipients
The Safety Excellence Awards were created in 1987 to promote safe working conditions and practices and to recognize, on an annual basis, individual operations with exemplary safety records among NSSGA member companies. The awards recognize individual operations that have gone the longest duration without a reportable injury in their size category, based on data provided by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
