Home > 2020 Safety Awards of Excellence
The Safety Excellence Awards, originated in 1987, are presented based on the ability of an individual aggregates operation to maintain a safe workplace, evidenced by its safety performance over a consecutive period of time without an MSHA reportable injury. NSSGA’s safety awards recognize individual operations as well as companies. The safety award categories are based on reported work hours and are grouped accordingly:
- Large: Greater than 55,000 work-hours
- Medium: Greater than 25,000, but less than 55,000 work-hours
- Small: Up to 25,000 work-hours
Safety Awards of Excellence
The Safety Excellence Program was created in 1987 to promote safe working conditions and practices and to recognize, on an annual basis, individual operations with exemplary safety records among NSSGA member companies. Safety Excellence Awards recognize individual operations that have gone the longest duration without a reportable injury in their size category. Data on which the award is based is provided by MSHA.
