Jim Roberts, president and CEO of Granite Construction (NSSGA member) will testify before the House Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Committee Subcommittee on Highways and Transit tomorrow, at 10 a.m., Eastern time, Oct. 11, 2017, to share the industry’s perspective on the future of our nation’s highways and transit systems. He is expected to urge Congress to support sustainable and adequate funding for maintaining and upgrading the country’s surface transportation infrastructure.
“Some 60 years after the visionary investment in our Interstate Highway System that still supports our economy today, the country once again is ready to rally behind a bold federal infrastructure vision backed by a significant commitment to fund this vision,” he said.
Roberts expects to tell the committee the importance of finding a sustainable funding source for the Highway Trust Fund and how not doing so will impact the aggregates industry. He added that the conversations about infrastructure that take place on Capitol Hill, the White House and in states across the nation are very encouraging. “While the task ahead may seem daunting, the members of the transportation construction industry stand ready to work with you to achieve the goals you and President Trump have identified,” he wrote to T&I Committee members.
