NSSGA member Alan Parks, vice president, Memphis Stone and Gravel Company, is testifying before the full congressional House Committee on Small Business Thursday afternoon, May 29. The committee hearing is entitled “Will EPA’s ‘Waters of the United States’ Rule Drown Small Businesses?” and will be available to watch online here:
The Small Business committee has shown considerable interest in this proposed rule, going so far as to submit a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency urging withdrawal of the rule until small business outreach has been completed. Parks will discuss the effects this proposed rule would have on small aggregates operations in general, and specifically the impacts that Memphis Stone and Gravel Company will feel as a result of expanded and unclear EPA jurisdiction. Also testifying with Parks will be small business representatives from the National Cattleman’s Beef Association and the National Association of Home Builders, as well as a law professor from Emory Law School. Park’s testimony on behalf of NSSGA will be available after the hearing.
