Young Leaders marks 25 years of leadership development
NSSGA celebrated 25 years of the Young Leaders Annual Meeting April 19-22 at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Ariz. Industry magnates imparted leadership advice to a record crowd of more than 200 people. Joel Galassini received the Mark S. Walsh award, sponsored by Rock Products. Walsh was a member of the Young Leaders steering committee and helped set the direction and growth of the group before he passed away in 1999. The award is presented annually to a member of the group who exemplifies professionalism and enthusiasm for Young Leaders. Attendees took advantage of quality networking time in addition to group activities, including a tour of Gila River Sand & Gravel and a community service project. The group built up a community farm at the nearby Native American reservation in Sacaton. Rep. David Schweikert, R-Ariz., also spoke to the group about Congress’ legislative agenda for the year.
