  • In a letter sent to the House Committee on the Budget, NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson brought the following two issues to the attention of the committee. First, ensuring full funding of highways and transit in accordance with the provisions of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient, Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) and, secondly, preservation of the budget firewalls that ensure federal gasoline user fees into the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) are used for transportation infrastructure and not diverted to unrelated activities.

  • In a letter sent to the cosponsors of H.R. 3683, The Gas Tax Relief Act of 2005 NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson stressed the importance of finding a long-term solution to solve American's energy crisis instead of a short-term action of suspending the highway user fee.
  • In response to proposals being considered in Congress to suspend the highway user fee, NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson sent a letter to both the Senate and House Leadership stating the importance of the user fee in ensuring America's infrastructure.
  • In celebration of Earth Day, NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson sent a letter to Congress spotlighting the contributions of the aggregate industry in ensuring our natrual resources.
  • NSSGA President and CEO Joy Wilson sent a letter to the House Budget Committee emphasizing the role TEA 21 has in the Highway Trust Fund by ensuring that federal gasoline tax and other highway user fees are exclusively dedicated to improving the nation's surface transportation infrastructure and invested for that purpose in a timely manner.
