Distance Learning Programs

NSSGA has partnered with the Institute of Quarrying to offer two distance learning programs for aggregates industry professionals.

The Graduate/Management Conversion Program is a one-year program geared toward managers who have a related college degree and want to gain a more specific understanding of the aggregates industry and the quarrying process. It’s also ideal for individuals in other disciplines, suppliers or manufacturers requiring increased industry knowledge. Click here to learn more about the Graduate/Management Conversion Program.

The Junior Management Program is a three-year course of study aimed at meeting the current and future professional development needs of existing employees in junior management positions. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the aggregates industry and the quarrying process. Click here to learn more about the Junior Management Program.

Requirements

Participants must have access to a computer, internet connection and video conferencing/Skype. Students will need to dedicate approximately 10-15 hours per week of study in order to maximize the courses’ benefits.

While the majority of the learning takes place online through a learning management platform, there are two occasions when course participants will meet in person:

  • Sept. 25-16, 2017: All participants are required to attend the course kickoff during NSSGA’s Legislative & Policy Forum/Fall Board Meeting in Washington, D.C. Instructors will give a course overview and conduct sessions to prepare participants for the upcoming workload.
  • March 4-8, 2018: Participants will attend the NSSGA Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo in Houston, Texas to undergo U.S.-specific safety & health and environmental training, as well as tutoring sessions for challenging parts of the curriculum. Participants will also be able to take advantage of the networking and educational opportunities available at the NSSGA Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo.

Participation in the two in-person training events is required and included as part of your course enrollment fee. No additional fees are required to attend the Legislative & Policy Forum/Fall Board Meeting or the NSSGA Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo.
