On March 25, 2014, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a proposed rule that would assert Clean Water Act jurisdiction including floodplains and dry ditches, based on an incomplete scientific study and flawed economic analysis.
Congress temporarily shored-up the Highway Trust Fund before it became insolvent this summer by approving a short-term extension of the program through May 31, 2015. The short-term patch, however, is not the long-term solution the nation needs. There is no guarantee that these funds will last through the length of the program extension.
NSSGA is preparing comments to be submitted to the docket for the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers proposed rule on Waters of the United States. NSSGA needs you to comment as well; the EPA must hear from as many businesses as possible about the impacts this will have on your operations.
